WORLD RELIGIOUS QUOTES

The flute of the infinite is played without ceasing and its sound is love.

-Kabir

This silence is worth
More than a thousand lives,
This freedom worth
More than all the empires on earth.

To glimpse that truth within yourself,
For even just a moment, is worth
More than all heavens, all worlds,
All this, and all that.

-Jalaluddin Rumi

In any way that men love Me, in that same way they find My love; for many are the paths of men, but they all in the end come to Me.

-from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita

The name of man's secret is God, and the name of God's secret is none other than... love. Who loves, loves God....And what is love if not a creative act, in which two beings fuse into a single consciousness, scarred and healed a thousand times? Love's mystery resides in oneness, and so does God's. 'Whatever is above is also down below.' Between the present concrete world and the other, the one to come, there is a link as between source and reflection. God does not oppose humanity, and man, though vulnerable and ephemeral, can attain immortality in the passing moment. In man's universe, everything is connected because nothing is without meaning.

-the Baal Shem

I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, campassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in action and in thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate towards yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.

-Lao Tzu, from the _Tao Te Ching_ or 'The Way and its power'

Grandfather,
Look at our brokenness.

We know that in all creation
Only the human family
Has strayed from the Sacred Way.

We know that we are the ones
who are divided
And we are the ones
Who must come back together
To walk in the Sacred Way.

Grandfather,
Sacred One,
Teach us love, compassion, and honor
That we may heal the earth
And heal each other.

-a Canadian Ojibway (AmerIndian) prayer

The seed of God is in us. Given an intelligent and hard-working farmer, it will thrive and grow up to God, whose seed it is; and accordingly, its fruits will be God-nature. Pear seeds grow into pear trees, nut seeds into nut trees, and God seed into God.

-Meister Eckhart

I vow to offer joy to one person in the morning
and to help to relieve the grief of one
person in the afternoon.
I vow to live simply and sanely, content with just a
few possessions,
and to keep my body healthy.
I vow to let go of all worries and anxiety
in order to be light and free.

-Thich Nhat Hanh

The earth is but one country, and all humankind its citizens... Ye are the fruits of one tree.

-Baha'u'llah

I am the boundless ocean.

This way and that,
The wind, blowing where it will,
Drives the ship of the world.

But I am not shaken.

I am the unbounded deep
In whom the waves of all the worlds
Naturally rise and fall.

But I do not rise or fall.

I am the infinite deep
In whom all the worlds
Appear to rise.

Beyond all form,
Forever still.

Even so am I.

--from the Ashtavakra Gita, one of the Hindu scriptures thought to have been written in the 4th-5th c. BC.

The spirit-gravity circuit is the basic channel for transmitting the genuine prayers of the believing human heart from the level of human consciousness to the actual consciousness of Deity. That which represents true spiritual value in your petitions will be seized by the universal circuit of spirit gravity and will pass immediately and simultaneously to all divine personalities concerned.

...If anything originates in your consciousness that is fraught with supreme spiritual value, when once you give it expression, no power in the universe can prevent its flashing directly to the Absolute Spirit Personality of all creation.

Conversely, if your supplications are purely material and wholly self-centered, there exists no plan whereby such unworthy prayers can find lodgment in the spirit circuit of the Eternal Son. The content of any petition which is not "spirit indited" can find no place in the universal spiritual circuit; such purely selfish and material requests fall dead; they do not ascend in the circuits of true spirit values. Such words are as "sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal."
